Abstract

Current study examines customer purchasing intentions and behaviors regarding fashion items created from recycled plastic with the goal of determining how well these eco-friendly products might mitigate the detrimental environmental effects of rapid fashion. The study used a cross- sectional research approach, and 258 responses were used to test the proposed integrated model using a covariance-based structural equation modeling technique. Only one association between biospheric value and environmental views (reasons for) is determined to be significant. Research also showed that emergence of social media and the option to pay more for recycled clothing created from plastic waste cannot affect consumers' attitudes, intentions, or behavior when making purchases. By employing the Behavioral Reasoning Theory, this study examined whether consumers’ environmental values can influence their buying behaviour of clothes made of recycled plastic waste. Additionally, we also explored the impact of social media, consumers' skepticism, and willingness to pay premium prices for clothes made of recycled plastic waste. Moreover, we uncovered potential applications and opportunities within the recycled clothing sector, aligning with SDG goal 12 on responsible consumption and production.
